HAIL wins two awards at the Irish Council for Social Housing Biennial Social Housing Conference in Galway!
Community Housing Award
Initiated in 2003, the awards showcase the range of high quality social housing
projects that have been developed by housing associations and local authorities in
recent years and which have contributed significantly to creating more stable and
sustainable communities.
HAIL were delighted to win the overall award in the Collaboration Initiatives section for our development at Belmayne, North Dublin in partnership with Sonas and Cluid Housing Associations.
Belmayne is an excellent example of good quality sustainable housing delivered by
HAIL, Cluid and Sonas Housing Associations in partnership with Belmayne Ireland
Ltd. and Dublin City Council through Part V of the Planning and Development Act
2000. The apartment block of 134 mixed housing units is located in the new suburb
of Belmayne, an area of approximately 490 acres to the north eastern Fringe of Dublin
City Borough.
The Consortium partnership has worked together to deliver a development that meets the requirements of design criteria, safety and sustainability and effective and economical management. However, the greatest dividend of partnership working is the sustainability of tenancies by a diverse and rich mix of tenants whose needs can be responded to by an experienced team of support workers with a range of generic and specialist skills.
HAIL looks forward to working with Cluid and Sonas in the ongoing development of Belmayne and in the delivery of similar partnership projects in other areas of the city.
Board Member Award 2011
The ICSH Board Member Award was first awarded in 2007 and aims to recognise the outstanding contributions made by voluntary board members to the voluntary housing sector and their communities.
HAIL's recently retired Chairman John D. Carroll was the overall winner of the award for 2011.
John retired after 25 years at the helm of HAIL in July of this year. His contribution to the sector in the development and delivery of a housing and support service across the four local authorities was commended.
John now hands over to a new chair Eanna McHugh a tradition of the highest governance and ethical standards, and best and innovative practice in collaborative working.
