Green Ribbon Campaign 2018

Karolyn Ward - Tuesday, May 01, 2018

The National Green Ribbon Campaign 2018 kicks off today.

See Change are rolling out a month long national Green Ribbon Campaign to encourage people in Ireland to End Mental Health Stigma this May 2018.

Stigma is a barrier to recovery for many people but with your help we can work together to put a stop to stigma. HAIL is one of 100+ partner organisations supporting the Green Ribbon Campaign again this year.

Green Ribbons will be distributed nationwide free of charge as a visual symbol to end the stigma around mental health.

  • Wear the Green Ribbon as a symbol for starting the conversation about mental health
  • Download See Change's leaflet "What is Stigma" to learn more about the effects of stigma
  • Attend a HAIL Green Ribbon event during the month of May
  • Join the conversation on National Time To Talk day on May 4th
  • Connect via social media using the hashtag #GreenRibbonIrl and join the national Thunderclap on 4th May

Stigma is a barrier to recovery for many people but with your help, our 60 ambassadors and 100+ partner organisations can work together to put a stop to stigma.

500,000 green ribbons will be distributed nationwide and free of charge as a visual symbol to end the stigma surrounding mental health difficulties.

Research conducted ahead of 2017’s Green Ribbon campaign showed that 4 in 10 people would conceal a mental health difficulty from family, friends or colleagues.

You don’t need to be an expert to start talking about mental health or have all the answers. Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is to let someone know you are there for them and simply listen.
