Bohemian FC V St. Patrick’s Athletic

On Friday 29th of June, HAIL United football team had an outing to watch a league of Ireland game.  Bohemian FC versus St Patricks Athletic in Dalymount Park in Phibsborough.

The team met at the spire at 6:30pm as kick off was at 7:45pm.  There was nine of us who attended.  Thanks to Bohemian FC for the kind donation of tickets.

As we arrived at the stadium there was excitement and expectation from both sets of supporters, especially the Bohemian supporters, as their team are in the bottom half of the Airtricity League and needed to win more so than St Pats who are in the top half.

The game kicked off and during the first 15 minutes the quality off the game didn’t seem to be of league of Ireland standard. Then the game sprung in to action and St Pats were on top for most of the first half as the Bohs keeper made three vital saves.  Most of the St Pats attack came from the right side of midfield from their number 7, Conan Byrne, who I’d say was man of the match.

Despite all the missed chances from St Pats, a couple of minutes before half time, the number 11 from Bohs, hit a blistering strike on the half volley into the top corner from  the edge of the box, Bohs went in 1 – 0 up at Halftime.

The second half resumed and the quality from the Bohs players was a lot better than the first half.  They displayed a great second half performance and held on to win 1 – 0.

The HAIL United football team organised this outing as a social event. In HAIL, there will be more social activities, games and tournaments in the near future.  There is a good team spirit and friendship among the HAIL football team and staff involved in organising games.
