Housing Officer North Dublin – Two Year Contract, Part Time

HAIL is an Approved Housing Body with a strong reputation in providing both quality housing and floating support services to people with mental health difficulties in their own homes across Dublin, Kildare, Portlaoise and Louth.

HAIL’s vision is to be the provider of choice for housing and support for people with mental health difficulties, enabling them to achieve and sustain independent living in the community by having secure, quality, affordable accommodation with appropriate support services tailored to their needs.

HAIL’s mission is to provide housing and individually tailored services to support people, primarily those with mental health difficulties, to integrate and live independent lives in the community.

The Role

An interesting and challenging vacancy has arisen for the role of Housing Officer for five half days per week, reporting to the Housing and Property Manager for a two-year contract term.

The area covers Ballymun in North Dublin but may be subject to change at the discretion of the company. The successful candidate will be based between the Ballymun office and Head Office in Dame Court, Dublin 2, and is expected to spend the majority of their time in their area.

The key elements of the role are:

·        Allocating available properties to suitable tenants in a timely manner

·        Ensuring rents and any other charges are collected as per contractual agreements with the tenants

·        Providing advice to tenants on the property and tenancy

·        Managing the tenancy to ensure where possible that the tenancy can be sustained in the long term

·        Ensuring compliance with all statutory and other obligations with regard to the tenancies and the properties

·        Managing the programme of planned and cyclical maintenance

·        Addressing any requests for ad-hoc maintenance

·        Addressing any issues of anti social behaviour

·        Providing information and reports to the organisation as required

A competitive salary scale is offered in the range of €40,316.19 to €50,349.40 (pro-rata for part-time) and the successful candidate will be appointed at a level on the scale in line with their experience.

The Candidates

Candidates are required to have at least two years recent experience as a Housing Officer in a Housing Body or Local Authority. A qualification at least at the equivalent level of the Higher Certificate in Property and Facilities Management, or the CIH Certificate in Housing would be desirable.

Candidates must be able to work on their own initiative and must be very strong team workers, as establishing close working relationships with other HAIL staff and with Local Authorities is an integral element of the role. Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they are very well organised and demonstrate a strength in attention to detail. 

The candidates must have access to a motor vehicle and will have a full clean driving licence. Garda vetting to the satisfaction of HAIL will be required prior to appointment.
