HAIL housing association announces Michael Morris as new Chairperson

HAIL, a specialist housing association primarily for people with mental health difficulties, has officially announced Michael Morris as the new Chairperson of its Board of Directors.

Michael is an independent non-executive chairperson and director of several financial services entities in Dublin. He has almost 30 years’ experience advising boards and large institutional investors on strategy, finance, valuations, governance, growth and business efficiency.

In his executive career, Michael held various senior roles in investment banking and asset management for Amundi Pioneer in Dublin and JPMorgan and HSBC Securities in London.

Commenting today, (24.10.22) CEO of HAIL Martina Smith, said: “We are delighted to announce Michael Morris as the new Chairperson of the HAIL Board of Directors. Michael has served on our Board for several years. His extensive experience will support and further the work of HAIL.

“I look forward to working alongside Michael as we continue to advance HAIL as a leading Approved Housing Body - providing quality housing and individually tailored services to support tenants and clients, primarily those with mental health difficulties, to integrate and live independent lives in the community.”

In 2021 HAIL delivered mental health tenancy support services to a record 586 people. It also increased its number of homes to 423 – the highest figure recorded by the organisation. The housing association aims to increase its housing stock by 17% by the end of 2023, by delivering a further 70 homes.

Outgoing Chairperson

This month saw Michael Hoey conclude his term as the Chairperson of the HAIL Board of Directors. Michael is an experienced finance professional, with over 30 years’ experience in real estate and financial services, most recently as a senior manager with NAMA. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Martina Smith, added: “Michael Hoey has been an excellent Chairperson of HAIL. His guidance and commitment have been instrumental to the growth of HAIL over recent years.  I would like to thank Michael for the lasting contribution he has made to HAIL and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”
